Cancer Resource Center

The Medical Center of Plano, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, is pleased to provide our patients access to the Cancer Resource Center.  The Center, located on the hospital’s fourth floor, provides information and direct assistance to cancer patients, their caregivers and families and the local community.  “Cancer patients, their families, facility staff and the community are greatly helped when a well equipped resource center provides information and services through prevention, detection, treatment, education and support programs”, said Mary Jo Dean, Vice President, Marketing.

The Cancer Resource Center is staffed by trained volunteers who are available to listen, support and educate. Volunteers are knowledgeable about the American Cancer Society programs and available community resources for those in need of assistance.  A visit to The Medical Center of Plano Cancer Resource Center will provide visitors with extensive literature about various types of cancers and support groups in the Dallas and Collin County areas as well as an extensive referral list for anything from hospital beds to portable bathroom equipment. Internet users will find a wealth of cancer information at their fingertips including the latest news on cancer from the American Cancer website www.cancer.org.

The Medical Center of Plano recognizes the value of on-sight access to information and services, as well as the importance of having trained volunteers available to visit with patients and their families.  Anyone interested in learning more about cancer, in need of support, or interested in volunteering is encouraged to stop by the Cancer Resource Center or call (214) 473-7894.
