DUNCAN TAKES REINS OF CARDIOVASCULAR SERVICES

PLANO, Texas (July 22, 2011)The Medical Center of Plano has announced the elevation of John W. Duncan, M.D., to Chief of Cardiovascular Services, a post he will hold for two years. Dr. Duncan previously served for a year as the department’s vice chief.

“With Dr. Duncan leading the way, we look forward to continuing to build on our record for excellence in cardiovascular care,” says Troy A. Villarreal, FACHE, president and chief executive officer at The Medical Center of Plano. “Dr. Duncan’s nearly three decades of clinical experience will make him a tremendous asset to the Medical Executive Committee as it helps chart a course for the hospital’s future.

A native of Lincoln, Neb., Dr. Duncan received his medical degree from The University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha. After an internship and residency in internal medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn., Dr. Duncan completed a residency in cardiology at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, followed by a two-year cardiology fellowship at the same institution.

Dr. Duncan is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine both as an internist and as a specialist in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
